And yet he always seemed like sir,
The strict teacher who always got results
Totally respected but not always approachable
Mr. Ramsey – sir

His word was his word
That was that
No questions, no wavering
His way was his way

Never really a Gaffer
Never really Chief
Never really Guv
Just Alf

A mark of respect for a man of respect
The teacher whose goals were clear
The master who would not compromise
The tutor who taught the class of sixty six so well

And with this group, this bunch of lads
He delivered his master-class
As he moulded and shaped
Taught and tutored, led and inspired
And transformed them into giants among men
As they made the grade, came top of the form,
The class of sixty six.
