Since 1989 he has worked as poet, performing in thousands of venues throughout the country and is constantly in demand for his school visits. Widely anthologised, Paul’s poems can be found in numerous collections. He has sold well over half a million books and has recently emerged as a leading editor of anthologies for children, with an extremely successful number of titles for Macmillan Children’s Books, Red Fox / Random House, Scholastic, Hodder Wayland and Lion Books. Always a poet in demand, he has visited around 2,000
schools and worked with pupils of all ages and abilities. |
Paul often works with David Harmer in the popular performance poetry duo Spill The Beans and has appeared on radio and television, most recently on Wham Bam Strawberry Jam! for BBC Children’s Television.
Paul is currently the Poet In Residence at The National Football Museum at the PNE grounds, in Preston. He still listens to Slade and still supports Everton Football Club. If he has any spare time he tends to spend too much money on CDs, books and loud shirts and playing five-a-side football. At the age of 43 he is still considered to be the youth policy within the team. Paul lives in Retford, Nottinghamshire with his wife Sally, son Sam, and daughter Daisy.
